Welcome to the homepage of the Department of Medical Biochemistry!

We undertake research to elucidate the mechanism of the onset of lifestyle and age-related diseases.

In our laboratory, we use a variety of molecular biology and biochemistry techniques to analyze disease model mice and genetically modified mice to elucidate the causes of lifestyle-and age-related diseases such as diabetes and metabolic syndrome. We are developing new treatments. Recently, from the viewpoint of metabolic alteration, we are also conducting research on mechanism of aging.

​山縣和也が第62回(2025年度)

エルウィン・フォン・ベルツ賞の

2等賞受賞しました。

この賞は、医学研究の分野において日独両国間の協力を推進するため、1964年に創設された医学賞です。

第62回のテーマは「インスリン分泌制御機構とインスリン分泌低下性糖尿病」であり、山縣の研究「膵β細胞転写因子の異常によるインスリン分泌低下型糖尿病の発見とその発症機構の解明」が選出されました。

駐日ドイツ連邦共和国主席公使らのご臨席のもと、12月2日(火)にドイツ大使公邸において贈呈式が開催されました。
